The Cornell
Student Chapter of Engineers for a Sustainable World
(formerly called Engineers
Without Frontiers) is a student chapter of the national ESW organization.
Both the national organization and the Cornell chapter were founded
at Cornell in 2001. ESW, now represented at over 30 campuses nationwide,
addresses critical global challenges such as safe drinking water, food
security, energy needs, and information technology!
Our mission
To engage engineers in reducing poverty by improving
environmental, social, and
economic sustainability worldwide.
Our goals
Mobilize engineers to address the unique challenges of developing communities and to promote global sustainability.
Educate a generation of engineers to have greater understanding of
global issues and the ways
technology can be employed for human progress.
Promote a positive image of engineering through outreach, service,
and international goodwill.
